An all new WRC season has kicked off this week from 17th till 22 the sunday Jan 2012.

Despite the pitfall in the world and european economy, a couple of manufacturers, the Citroen and Ford have committed to the season as manufacturer, whereas the BMW Mini have not, but are in the season only for drivers title.. Volkswagen have continued their testing for this season too with their two Skoda Fabia S2000's with Seb. the junior - Ogier with his co-driver Julian Ingrassia, on their no1 spot.. after a rift with his earlier team Citroen. Alongside the Frenchman Ogier the Volkswagen factory team is competing with the Dutch junior driver Kevin Abbring and his co-driver Lara Vanneste. They also withdrew from the famous Dakar this season to concentrate on WRC and saving themselves from spending on motorsports too much..

The vacant spot at Citroen's WRC team was filled by the Ford's No1 driver Mikko Hirvonen moving to the no2 spot into the team, and Latvala moved to Ford's no1 driver spot, with the privateer team Petter Solberg securing a no2 spot in the blue oval team..

As the economic crisis hitting the motorsports, Mini and Ford had tough time managing to get their presence in the WRC this season, barely making it.. thats another big story..
