Thus creating history in Indian motorsports, the Indian Team is the first ever team to win in Thailand 4x4 Car Rally which was held on 8-10th Dec 2009 at Pattaya in Chonburi province of Thailand.
The rally ran over total distance of 650kms through dense forest and river streams and rocky mountain terrains. There where 22 participants from Malaysia , Japan, Indian and host nation Thailand. The Rally was flagged from the famous walking street at Pattaya on 8th dec which was cheered by thousands of motorsports fans.
The first stage which consisted of 20kms saw the Indian duo finish on 5th place.
they have to drive half way through the stage without navigation meter. Musa sherif had to bring his experience of 18 years to see the car through this stage.
The second stage started from SAO KAEO with total distance of 40kms which was the most difficult terrain to drive in this entire rally. Sanjay Takle had No option but to drive all out if ever they had to catch up with Malaysian and Thai team. at the end of the stage they clocked 54.17seconds to finish 3rd at the end of the day.
After sleepless night the rally which started from Popiet border near Combodia the duo of Sanjay and Musa on day 3 put pressure on rest of the pack with aggressive driving to finish 2nd at the end of the Day. The stage saw grassy and muddy terrain which consisted of 47kms and 52 kms respectively. The Malaysian driver Eric law finished 1st who is experienced in driving in this part of asian sub continent, while relatively new team India finished gloriously on 2nd place while the experienced Thai team of Vichawat and Bundlukrit were to finish 3rd in the rally.
This Rally saw Veteran Dakar rally driver Mana Pornsirherd from Thailand participating while very strong team of Japan Mitsubishi taking part in this event, The Indian team drove Isuzu Dmax 3 ltr engine with 220 bhp which was prepared by famous Thai Tuner Srun from N Motorsports.
This was second consecutive International win for Sanjay Takle after finishing 3rd in Malaysian rally last month.

Like you mentioned this is the first win for an Indian team in 4x4. But the actual honour of winning an rally for the first time in Thailand goes to Naren/Ram & Arjun/Kumar who were seprated by an mere 1 sec in 2001 and incidentally the rally was flagged off from the same spot. They were participating under MRF umbrella in Asia Cup 2001.

I have couple of pics of the same, let me try to post the same.

What you are saying is right...

But the two events are different : this was a 4x4 Rally and that was a Car rally
