We have rumors floating all the time about the end of INRC 2W. The organizers are doing their best to find sponsors and run the show. But, it is disgusting that our "media" (I'm only referring to the Auto Mags) is not even aware that the events have taken place.

Bike India - These people brag themselves about motorcycles but have not mentioned even a line about INRC 2W.

Autocar - They have a super 2 page article of INRC 4W but somehow forgot to mention anything about the 2W.

Overdrive - A super stamp size article on page 390. I am glad that they did mind to post some info.

We do see the news on dailies and on Auto Track. That is one good thing thats happening.

I don't understand what these people benefit by ignoring 2 wheeler rallies.

Also, if we take the stats the 160cc bikes are as fast as the 2000cc cars.

Its high time the media in India grows up :-(

I stand by Renukumar on this issue!!!!!!!!! i drive in rsc and have noticed that the coverage in the leading mag's for 2w motor sports is very less than average. Guys from the magazine's please have a note of this and requesting you to do the needful.

Regards
Anish

I totally agree with Renu, also i think the Organisers are also responsible for not promoting the event properly.

The media obviously will not concentrate more on the 2Wheelers because they think it is not glamorous anymore, unlike the early and late 90's (glamor is directly proportional to the money spent :-( ). They don't realize that it takes much more to do a rally on 2 wheels than on 4 wheels. The only way we can solve this is by getting together as one, form a association like the 4wheelers did and make sure we make noise about it. This way I guess we will be able to work towards getting facilities/infrastructure/media coverage and hope that 2Wheeler rallies will be taken more seriously.

We need some more ideas. Making noise alone wont help.

What kind of ideas Tom ? We all did mention earlier - forming an association will help , with that we can collectively ask for more media coverage, more safety, more prize money, a min of 6 events on the INRC calender, a mix of surfaces across events, ceremonial start, a decent PD, make it more affordable bringing in more manufacturers and inturn healthy competition, the list goes on :-)

I believe the key to it is better media management on behalf of the organisers. Media management is a term that encompasses a wide array of spheres, from initial networking, relationship building and sustainable management with multiple media channels, sponsor involvement and contracting in marketing and advertising, quality on the ground press and media handling, etc., etc.,

Professional Event Management teams know what I'm talking about.. it needs money, yes, but it needs a concentrated and pro focus on press, media and publicity from the organisers, from the word go.

Very true... You spoke all the words Kuttappa...

@Syed: publicity is the most important aspect for the sponsors to pitch in... I hope even the organizers will do their job in updating the media...

Thank you all for the positive response =D>

@Tom: It is great to have a separate section for 2W rally in the forum :D

I agree with all of you here that much more media coverage is the need of the hour. But I have to humbly submit that the media coverage for Bikes this year is far better than what it was for the last few years.

All the three 2w rallies this year, - Coimbatore, Bangalore and Nashik- received wide coverage with colour photographs which is unheard of in recent years. Only in those days of night rallying with a navigator (pre 2000), bikes got such coverage.

But I also agree with all of you that more professional approach will get us more mileage and Manoj is bang on... On my part, I am willing to even bring out a rally guide (like the one Overdrive is doing for 4w) if the riders can send me their info and photos and will try to get a sponsor who can print them for every rally. We don't even get the riders' phone numbers from the CRO to talk to them for media quotes. So if someone can help me gather the contact details, I will certainly try to get more coverage.

This year we had three special stories for bikers apart from 10 to 12 newspapers clips for all the three rallies.

Any suggestions on improving the media coverage are welcome.
