How do I start to write about one of the most exciting weekends in my life? OK here goes my experience. An invitation came from Harley Davidson to take part in the Founder’s Ride in Bangalore and I was thumped as usual.
The ride was organized to take off from Hotel Jayamahal Palace near Cantonment. There were pre-ride formalities that took place. Every rider was issued a radio device to ensure that we are in loop. I selected to wear a Harley helmet.

Sanjay Tripati, who is now leading Harley Davidson India operations gave us the instructions and showed the route map.

I was thrilled when the announcement was made that I would be riding the
Harley Davidson 2009 XR 1200.

XR 1200 belongs to the Sportster family of Harley Davidson motorcycles. It features performance cams, downdraft fuel injection, and oil-cooled heads that yield 90 horsepower and 74 Nm of torque - more horsepower but less torque JA hollow cast aluminum swingarm, and attached to the swingarm are preload-adjustable twin rear shocks. Four-piston, dual disc Nissin brakes up front and a 43mm inverted Showa fork suggest that this Sportster is less laid back. Dirt track-style handlebar lends the XR1200 a distinctive look.
Few things that impressed me as soon as I sat on the bike were the controls that were simple and the gear shift that was using 1 down 4 up pattern. Switches were of highest quality.

We took a ‘U’ near the Airport and headed towards
Bangalore Palace where we had the photo shoot - then to Hotel Olive Beach thru Brigade road.

This is one of the fantastic rides I had ever and I am very proud that I rode the World’s best handling Harley
