NESTOR HERITAGE RUN 2010

Amul & Mustafa lead after second day

Mysore, Aug 28:

Amul Satosker from Goa & co-driver M.K.Mustafa from Coimbatore perfected their Nestor Heritage Run 2010, to lead the rally by 2 seconds.They also won the Second Leg with 28 seconds penaly. Checking in at the Hotel Regalia, in downtown Mysore, in the evening after the second leg of the rally that started from Chikamagalur in the morning. Amul commented, “I never expected to lead the rally. But we are happy where we are and would work hard to maintain the same position tomorrow”. Praising the Indian Motorsports Club, for a well - organized event, he said, “ The rally is being run professionally and we thank Musa Sherif for a brilliant event”. Running a security business in Goa, this is Amul’s tenth year of rallying. Mustafa,from the land of TSD Co-drivers Coimbatore, said, “We had only one car in front of us and that was our advantage. We thought that the rally will be very competitive, but never expected to lead”. Amul & Mustafa, were placed second after the audited results were declared yesterday night. Amitrajit Ghosh & Somdeb Chanda were leading the rally after the audited results were declared.

“The lead in the Nestor Heritage run, is tightly poised with 2 seconds between Amul and Ghosh. The third to fifth positions have good chances of making up positions also”, said Musa Sherif, the Clerk of the Course(COC) of the Rally. “ The rally is running smoothly and we expect a very high number of finishers. In fact, there are only two drop outs. Swagatha Ghose & Sudip Halder have had a problem with their car, and Vinay P.M. did not start the day”, opined Ashwin Naik, the Deputy COC of the Rally.

The second leg of the Nestor Heritage Run 2010, started from Chikamagalur, and traversed through some interesting Karnataka landsape passing through Belur, Hemavathi river, the historical Shettarahalli Church, Shanivar Santhe, BylaKuppe ( known as Mini Tibet), and ended at Mysore running about 350 kms.

The third leg would flag off at 7 a.m. tomorrow and run to the Chamundi Hills and return to Mysore, and have a free run to Bangalore, and finish with the Podium Ceremony at The Forum. The Prize Distribution would follow at the Orchid later in the night.

Nestor rally………..my experience

25th Wednesday 2010………documentation/scrutiny at VSL GRAND

The nestor rally organized by IMSC motorsports had their documentation / scrutiny at vsl grand ,a service apartment located near cantonment railway station……as usual the documentation procedure was as simple as it was supposed to be….moosa’s dedicated,experienced…….team members did it very accurately as per regulations.

26th Thursday 2010

Some of the outside compitetors got their scrutiny/documentation done and all of us met at THE FORUM koramangala,and had to park our cars at the dedicated car park for all the compitetors ,and the ceremonial start got delayed from the much expected rains,and started about half an hour late……but a very nice start to a even more good rally.
From there we proceeded to vsl grand where stay was arranged by the organizers,checked into our respective rooms….briefing started at 8.30pm and lots of questions were asked and ashwin naik had to answer quite a lot of the but “CRAWLING” has still a mystery word in this TSD format and I feel will remain for the next decade to come…….but ashwin briefed us that crawling will be considered if the car is found to be driven with a speed less than 10km/hr………

27th Friday 2010

The nestor rally started half hour late….went through the new airport road……took the nandi hills road….dodaballapur ……tumkur…..arsikere…..hasan…….chickmagalur where we had to climb the highest peak in Karnataka…..mulayangiri betta…….one of the best picturesque places any body could ever see and the weather was just awesome……..full misty……cold…..and driziling just to make it even more super……tc placing……odometer readings…..tuliping …….marshals…..all excellent…..but at TC!4 some of the compitetors were seen CRAWLING and were supposed to get penalty which was briefed……..and the officials from the federation who were witness to this at the end of TC14 had to take note of this and were considering the rules of the rally and take action against them……….BUT they were again toothless as some of the compitetors threatened of taking the issue to the motorsport court……..so TC14 was cancelled giving all the other compitetors who did well to start thinking or define the word CRAWLING…..
Check in at planters court chickmagalur…..freshen up……went to chickmagalur club….well arranged dinner….got some sleep….

28th Saturday 2010

Super buffet breakfast…..rally started half an hour late…went from chickmagalur …….belur………sakleshpur the road from belur to sakleshpur was unpardonable and should be looked into that further these kind of roads are not acceptable…….with only a little bit of road and full of BIIIIGGGGGG potholes and the time given was just enough for even the innova / scorpio/gypsy to just sqeeze in……and adding to this the free zone from sakleshpur to hassan was rather a winding tarmac race…..just enough to make it on time….went through gorur super view of the sinking church……and reached mysore…checked in at regalis……drivers briefed about over speeding in village limits and warned for the same of confiscate their licences……..good dinner and even a better much awaited sleep…..

29th Sunday 2010

Again a super buffet breakfast…….rally started half hour late….went through chamundi hills…nanjangud road…..front of TVS factory…….HD kote road……KRS road ….and finished in the industrial areas of mysore……free run to Bangalore…..
Results at VSL grand…….protests……and proceeded to ROYAL ORCHID for the podium and PD……..superbly organized PD ceremony…..super lazer show……dinner and drinks to chill out……….

On the whole a super organized rally but the mystery of the word “CRAWLING” AND THE TRANSPERENCY AFFECTING THE UNSEEDED AND SEEDED CATEGORY HAS TO BE LOOKED INTO AT THE EARLIEST
