The Rally has started with sure winner, Gaurav Gill pulling out in the first stage itself due to engine failure on his MRF Mitsubishi Cedia. In his absence, Red Rooster driver, Amittrajit Ghosh is now leading the rally by 6 seconds over MRF drivers Lohith Urs and Arjun Aroor. Red Rooster's reigning National Champion, Vikram Mathais has also fallen down the order due to a puncture.

This is the picture at Coimbatore at the end of SS3.

Not a good start to the MRF campaign ..... Good to see Ghosh leading the charge , lets hope he can keep the two MRF drivers at a distance -- I really want him to win =D>

Wats the latest on the other classes .... also is Suresh Rana taking part in the rally ???

The rally sure seems to be taking it's toll on the top names. 2008 RSC Champion, Shailendra Hegde has suffered an engine failure, his 1400 Esteem crawling out of SS3 steaming away. Other drivers caught out in SS3 are Byram Godrej, also with his RSC Esteem's engine cooked up. Shafeeq is yet another RSC driver who is out. Vikram Devadasan's 1400 Esteem went out in SS2 itself with Steering failure. SS1 saw Den dropping out of the rally.

So who's leading the 1600, 1400, RSC and the Gypsy categories? Keep watching this space.

Looks like I'm posting only bad news out here. But that's the way it's going in Coimbatore.
Yet another top name out is G.S. Joshy. He hit a stump in SS5 that uprooted his Baleno's drive shaft.
Phil now leads the 1600 with Abhilash in second and Suresh Rana in third. Guess the Gypsy pro is still getting to grips with his new Baleno.

He is driving an MRF car; but is not part of Team MRF.
