Khaadu,
Well, I had ruled out the VTEC at an early stage thinking that it would to expensive to buy/maintain. But truth be told, I always desired one ever since I saw it in action:

When forum member aniruddhar chanced upon a well-maintained, 76k kms VTEC in Pune at a reasonable price, he convinced me to stretch my budget. In hindsight, it was the wisest decision I made in a long time. I strongly believe now that there is a world of difference between Honda and Maruti quality, and as far as performance is concerned, well:

I have done about 6000 kms in 2 months and I'm happy to say that every single one of them has been a pleasure. And to top it all, I have managed to squeeze out as much as 21 kmpl on the highway! (when I had to keep under 100 due to badly balanced tyres).

That machine has everything a driver wants, nothing more, nothing less. The Japanese, the know the way of the Samurai... :D
