As far as I know - Suzuki engines are easy to tune/modify for performance. Thats why it ends up with Esteem/ Baleno/ Gypsy.
correct me if i am wrong

for a beginer.........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... Gypsie gets my vote... if you build it right.... you cant break it... you do need to know how to drive it..but once you have had the taste... get out of it ... before you get useto the slower speeds.. this car does....otherwise adjusting to the higer speeds of the sedans could be an issue...as some will attest... top level gyp drivers..cant cut the mustard at the cedia.. or Baleno levels.... but to start... Gypsie

Kapil i get your piont..but there is one word your forgetting "BEGINNER"

and im assuming Rohit is not planning for a "Works" drive in the near future...until you have seen the punishment the gypsie is capible of taking event after event.. and still behave as if nothing has happend.. dont phoo phoo a Gypsie its fast enough to have good fun with.. very cheap to run.. dosent chew tyres.. can run events with a minimal service crew..(not if your name is sunny or ranna).. so if i was to choose one car to nail all the blocks for a start up rally car in India...id say gyp... and hey it finished 3rd outright in the hands of sandy at the K1000 eh!!!! what happend to all those esteems???

and a good already prepaired gyp is the way to go... plenty on the 'sale section'

Agree with you Naiz Sir .... Just thinking how much diff does it really make..just curious.. i am no seasoned rally driver so..

Hungry for more info

Do tuners charge less for service of a gypsy ?
Are Gypsy Dirt tyres less costly than the the ones going on esteem?
Does it consume less petrol to save on cost ?
Is the suspension cheaper for gypsy ?
Are spares cheaper ?
Is the handling handling cornering better or take those jumps / dips /crests easily ?
I thought its more prone to topple if you cant handle..

mmm so many questions so little time...

Service is based on Logistics....id say it costs the same ( rally service)

A gypsie can run competitively on road tyres.........

If you want to save petrol... dont go rallying

suspension id say yes.. They run with dual shocks...and since the set up is ..such that the wheel travel is about 1/2 inch.. the shocks dont take too much of a beating...

Handling... as i said . you need to learn how to drive the gyp... im sorry to say that many guys at the top end of the gyp field still get caught out by the handling of this car..you just need to look at the many videos posted on the net to figure this one out.. even the desert storm video.. where the gyp rolls is actually the driver being caught out by the handling....

Having said that.. you can roll any car... even an "F1" can roll... but to be fair the gypsie handles quite well.
I also had this mis- conception that this was a prick of a car to drive when i was forced ...by circumstance... to drive one at the desert storm.. my stage times reflected my concern at the start of the event... but by the latter part of the event .. when i had built up my confidence as i learnt the strange things this vehicle does at the limit... my stage times improved and eventually i was matching times with the "Best gypsie drivers in the world"..
needless to say it was great fun... but that may have been the event
