But killjoy its a big IF .... but what I hear is that next season onwards the carbd esteems will be out , and RSC will be the MPFI esteems !! And Im sure that the Swift will get homologated in the present form and there will be plenty of takers for it ....

Dunno about quick ... but it will definitely make a sexy looking Rally car .. ;-)

well khaddu, as per MAI from 2008, you are allowed 4 wheel drive cars in india.

know any that are manufactued here other than the chevy forrester? so, probably you are allowed to drive imported cars.

now if you are allowed to drive imported cars, then whats stopping someone from bringing in a full swift sport car from the euro champ[ionship? :)

Are you trying to say that we cud see Evos, Impreza's , etc etc in the INRC being driven by Indians :-) ?? But this again gets us back to the BIGGEST question of them all .... SPONSORS ???

Its gonna be very tough for guys to get into full fledged cars without a big sponsor to back them .. so maybe the MRF guys cud be seen driving some kewl cars ...

Cheers

Wouldn't the swift be much more expensive than the esteem to run? would make things difficult for the privateer unless we see more sponsors. And plus in the non-RSC wouldn't the esteems be faster too?

regs say that atleast 2500 pieces have to be manufactured in the country to be eligible for homologation (last time i checked) so hold on to ur horses.. no evos etc etc for the time being...

my opinion.. the swift will handle better than the esteem in rally trim... 1.3 engine will not have enough jiuce to get it sideways but d car will b more driveable... and jus to break the bubble.. d swift will NOT be launched in india with the 1.6 engine (economics wont allow it..... according to Khattar)

hey bozo, the evo's, wrx's etc are already FIA homologated. They don't need to be re-homologated for India. Hence, if the rules (or more importantly the events themselves) are ready, expect to see the top teams running a few of these cars.

Also, a used rally spec evo/wrx is almost the same price, if not a bit cheaper, and far easier to build than taking a cedia/fiesta from here and building it to Gp N+ regs.

I’m sorry to burst ur bubble BOZO but I have both the esteem in which I rally as well as the swift there is no way in HELL that the swift can take on the Esteem in handling as for going sideways.........the swift steps out much quicker that the esteem.....

as they rally the swift abroad i think it will be a step up the ladder if the swift gets homologated.

@Rtech.. sorry for being argumentative but it does not work like that... u can clear this up with one of d stewards... i cud b wrong.

@equador2000, sorry correction... not really sideways as in rear wheel drive crazy drifter sideways...what i meant was the swift is a better handling car owing to less flex on the monocoque and good weight distribution.. so a driver can throw it around a lil bit more than with the esteem n know that the rear wheels will try to follow d front...did i get that right?! :)

Clear what up? As per the 2007 regs, they cannot compete as it is only open to National or Zone homologated cars.

But as I mentioned, IF the regulations are changed for 2008 to allow FIA homologated cars, then it opens up everything. This ofcourse depends on the events raising their game.

So far, its still oncourse for getting in the 4WD turbo's in 2008. Even if there are just 2 or 3 running, it would make for an awesome sight and that alone should rope in some more sponsors.
