and this is a Pic some one took of the car on the ...ummmm I think it was the Iblur stage... can someone help me here the memory is a bit foggy... there was one SS at the Kolar airstrip... and another SS at Iblur... i remembe this one as beeing really fast and some slippry bits in the middle... i came over a long lefthander crest and it went down into a large water crossing... we were flat out in 4th in the ambi over the crest, and as we hit the water, the car aquaplaned and was compleatly sideways .. it made such a big splash that the car was compleately engulfed in water, and i couldnt see a thing... i couldnt reach the wiper switch as i was harnessed in and the car was still motoring and a good pace... i kept screaming which way! which way!...any way we got out of that and we flatchatted the ambi to the finish... this photo will give you an example how hard the car is beeing driven, the car has compleately bottomed out on the right side of the suspension, as i try and fling it into the control... you can just see the control banner

Hi Niaz,

Thanks a lot for the post on Bharat Parikh's Nissan 240RS. My dad , Sujit Kumar Roy , was the navigator/co driver to Bharat Parikh in 1985 Himalayan Rally. The impact of the crash was entire on the left side of the car as shown in your picture. He had a no. of cracked ribs after that crash and took few months to recover fully.

Amazingly enough the car was fixed after few months and they had later competed in the K 1000 next year.

In btw my dad says " Hi !! "

Thanks
Somnath

i remember your dad well, tall slim softspoken, with the buddy holley glasses...you my dear friend have no idea how lucky you are to be writing this e-mail, that was a nasty accident, and if i remember corectly, the seat you dad was sitting in was the impact zone, .There were all these stories then, as to how a child had run across the road, and bharat had swerved to avoid the kid.....alll rubbish i thought, i saw the corner as i aproached the car, and in my opinion, Bharat had just "lost it" as we all do from time to time, unfortunately there was a tree , on their escape route, which the car broadsided.....go on ask your dad, and tell us the story, how fast was he going???
