Ok lets start the story... feel free to put in your remarks.. they are welcome here.... just a point to note....there have been quite a few guys trying to become "Friends" on my face book page....hey i dont know the names and havnt a clue who you are.. im not trying to be rude by ignoring requests... but if its motorsport you wanna be friends about .. then This is where i hang out... send me a "PM" here if there is somthing on your mind.. or join the fun here at ...Rally.com.... ok.
Now there is one special person We all have to thank for this brillant effort.. His Name is
ADI IRANI... HE is my old friend and ive said it before he built Indias fastest Grp 2 Fiat in 81 when i won the Sholavaram GP.. those of you who have dabbled in trying to squeez out more power from an engine know how hard it is to Marry perfomance with relibility... especially when you plan to keep the motor over 7000 Rpm.. for two days in a desert and fully loaded....Without Adi i would not have taken this venture up...(his pics are on previous pages)..
As it turns out Adi Assembled the fastest Gypsie motor that Western Australia has ever see...we did sit and discuss all the options avaliable to us, and went to many ustads.. for their advice.. then we sifted through the bullshit and took on board the clever bits .. added our collective sholovaram knowledge and came up with a screamer...
I was very convinced that the car was really fast, but the proof came when Khuswant and Samrat took it for its first blast...Yes they were very impressed as well... we had a Drag against my 4.2 V8 discovery.. and hell... the gyp held the disco on acceleration... that for a 1.3 motor is really really impressive.
So
The two trucks left Perth at about midnight... on Tuesday Wednesday.. one carrying the camping gear spares fuel, water etc etc.. and the other one with the two cars...
MIKE/ZACK/WILLIAM , crewed the car truck, and
PAUL/JAMES.. crewed the spares truck.. (some of you have met Paul).
The rest of us left at about six ..woke Samrat and Khuswant up at 5AM....poor Samrat... never seen the sunrise
KHUSWANT /SAMRAT/ME.. in the Discovery,
KIM/JOHN/SUSHIL/ in the Patrol, towing the camper trailer (which was our bedroom), and Mark/shane/Justin/Ian..crewed the second Patrol with a camper trailer as well...
It was an overcast morning and remained cool for the 900km drive to Canarvon. I made Samrat drive most of the way, and for the first time in my life sat happly at the back.. eating sleeping telling stories sleeping... and ocasionally having a smoke!!!!... (just cigaretts)...aahhh this is luxury...

You guys already know the end of the story so im just filling in the bits you dont know....We got to Canarvon at about 5 that evening and immediatly started setting up camp...and the beer started....funnily enough it was a bit coolish, and i had chucked in some Jackets just in case, and yes the came in Handy... we were all asleep by about 9pm..... yes 9pm
