When did you first enter the world of rallying?
I had a desire to rally right from my childhood. My first rally was Rally de
Endurance in Bangalore in 1999 in my Group N Esteem.

What do you consider as the biggest break in your rallying career?
My biggest break was probably winning the Chandigarh rally as a privateer. I got
Better recognition and also entry into MRF.

What has been your biggest inspiration in rallying?
Trying to get the best out of what ever car you are driving and trying to better
Yourself.

Describe your most unforgettable incident in rallying.
My car not coming for the start of Goa rally in 2003. It was a 1400 Esteem and
was being transported along with MRF cars to Goa.

What edge do you have over your competitors?
I’ll keep it to myself.

What’s the top speed that you have touched on a stage?
The car speedo was showing 200 kmph. K1000 2004 in a Baleno.

How often do you practice and where?
No fixed time for practice, its just when I feel like. Usual places- Chamundi Hills
Mysore and Coimbatore.

Are you superstitious/do you have a ritual before you get into the car/start a stage…etc?
YES. I pray before I start the car, start the stage and finish the rally.

Which round of the INRC is your favorite and why?
Chandigarh bcoz Horsepower is not everything in that rally, its skill and
endurance.

How would you compare Indian rallies with the International ones?
We lack the publicity and equipment of those rallies but the quality of competition
And commitment of certain organizers is definitely up to those levels.

Any tips for upcoming drivers or navigators?
Drivers- If u think you are a stud on the street, please show it on the stages.
Learn the right technique and use it in the right places.
Navigators- Take time off to do TSD Rallies, this is the right place to begin.

How do you think we can popularize rallying in India?
Rally.co is one way. Getting the real rally cars. Having well designed Spectator
Special Stages( not just name sake). ‘NOT RUNNING PARADES’ instead only
display and shakedown. Increasing spectator awareness and safety…

Given a chance, which WRC driver would you like to co-drive for and in which car?
Tommi Makinen Mitsubishi Evo 6.
I would like to navigate for him, guess thats the best way to learn from the
master.

What do you do when you are not rallying?
I look after our family business which involves manufacturing and export
of stone fireplaces.

Do you play or are you involved in any other form of sport?
My main fitness activities are weight training, running and swimming.

Michael Schumacher

What are your rally plans for 2007?
Waiting for the next rally, as of now.
